Election Results Certified

The Orange County results for the 2024 Presidential Primary General Election were certified on Friday, March 22. You can view the final official results on the County’s Registrar of Voters website at ocvote.gov/results.

Voter turnout in Orange County for this election was 37.7%.

Of the 685,038 ballots cast by voters and counted, 84.5 percent cast a vote-by-mail ballot and 15.5 percent cast an in-person ballot at one of 183 Vote Centers throughout the county.
Of the 578,755 vote-by-mail ballots counted in this election, 251,265 were cast on Election Day.
Of the 97,991 Vote Center ballots counted in this election, 23,720 were cast during the first 10 days of in-person voting and 74,271 were cast on Election Day.
Additionally, 2,746 provisional ballots were cast in-person and counted.

Election Accuracy Verified

Before certification, the accuracy of the 2024 Presidential Primary Election was verified using several tests and audits.

All ballot scanning and vote tabulation equipment and software was tested after Election Day to ensure the software had not been modified and test ballots were accurately counted. These tests were also conducted before the equipment was used in the election.

More than 8,000 of the 685,038 ballots that were cast in this election were randomly selected to be hand counted as part of two audits – the One Percent Manual Tally audit and the Risk Limiting Audit. Both audits confirmed that the results of the election were correct. Details on the audits can be found on our website at ocvote.gov/rla.

Confirming Your Ballot Was Counted

The Orange County Registrar of Voters processed all the ballots we received during the 2024 Presidential Primary Election. This includes all vote-by-mail ballots and provisional ballots.

All ballots are tracked, whether they were vote-by-mail ballots returned by mail, at a ballot drop box or at a Vote Center, or cast in-person at a Vote Center.

It’s easy to confirm if we received and counted your ballot. Visit ocvote.com/track to check on your vote-by-mail ballot. While there, you can sign up to receive updates regarding the status of your ballot for future elections via text message or email.

You’ll then receive alerts when your ballot is mailed for the 2024 Presidential General Election in November. Plus, alerts will be sent when your ballot is received and counted by the Orange County Registrar of Voters.

High School Voter Education

High School Voter Education Weeks start April 15 and continue through April 26. It will be the first of two high school events before the 2024 Presidential General Election (the other being the last two full weeks of September).

The goal of these events is to bring civic engagement awareness to our young and future voters. Eligible students ages 16 and 17 can pre-register to vote. When students pre-register to vote, they will automatically become registered voters at 18 years old.

Community outreach members from the Orange County Registrar of Voters team are available to partner with local high schools to promote civic education. We’re also available to speak at local colleges and universities, community groups, non-profit organizations, and other local organizations.

You can submit a speaker request through our website at ocvote.gov/community. Presentations are available in English, Chinese, Korean, Spanish, and Vietnamese.

The Registrar of Voters team thanks the more than 1,600 members of the Orange County community who joined us for this election as extra help employees at our Vote Centers, in the field, and in our office. We also appreciate our community partners who helped us educate citizens about how to vote.

Together, we helped more than 685,000 voters in the county successfully exercise their right to vote in an accessible, fair, accurate, secure, and transparent election.

Our election team helped their neighbors vote at our Voter Centers; ensured that all vote-by-mail ballots were processed correctly; made certain that all voting equipment was functional, accurate and properly delivered; and manually examined and tallied randomly selected ballots as part of two audits.
